Electrical Testing Testing performed

Testing performed

At periodic intervals, it is essential to test the portable appliances to measure that the degree of protection to ensure that it is adequate. At these intervals, a formal visual inspection is carried out this is then followed by testing the appliances  and Tagging the assets.

Tests that must be carry out to declare an item electrically safe is dependent on the class of construction (shown below). Some of the tests performed are:

  • Earth Continuity
  • Insulation Resistance
  • Polarity of Wiring
  • Run test of the electrical appliance

Electrical appliances are differentiated by a series of classes:
  • Class I - Single insulated wiring, which requires an earth connection. There is no symbol for a Class I product so if a rating plate has no symbol on it then it is usually Class I.
  • Class II - Double insulated wiring, therefore no need for a earth lead. Class II is indicated by double box.

Our StaffTest & Tag Service Technicians carry Photo ID cards, wear a Uniform for clear identification and are security vetted with the Ministry of Justice. Our Service Technicians work fast and effectively with minimal interruption to any plant, office environment, school, etc. We understand that companies must remain productive at all times and work to achieve this.

Test & Tag also appreciates that some companies work 24/7 and require testing to be conducted out of business hours, with coordination and some notice we can accommodate most request.

All tests are are performed using purposed designed pre calibrated testing equipment ensuring integrity of test results and our equipment is routinely re-calibrated every 12 months. We cannot conduct a test with printing a tag.

We also carry other testing equipment for microwave, 3 phase testing, Residual Current Device (RCD) testing utilising other specialised testing equipment.

Sensitive EquipmentMost importantly testing equipment used by Test & Tag does NOT damage any sensitive equipment been tested.
